My name is John Huddart and I’m an ancestral mens health coach.
As a coach I help guys navigate their way into deeper levels of wellbeing.
There isn’t a mould for this sort of thing so pardon if I hop on the soapbox to tell you a bit more.
Our western model of health suggests each of us is managing a sort of complex, biological meat suit – and that robust health is the result of a good genetic blueprint and responsible clean living.
But the reality is the health of our society is rapidly declining – meat suit management doesn't work.
So what if we began there?
Acknowledge the shortcomings of our societal approach and got curious about what else we could do?
What I've learned is that many cultures acknowledge the meat suit, they call it the physical domain of our health but so to do they believe we have mental, emotional and spiritual bodies, and that the health of one affects them all.
This means in order to really honour ourselves and take responsibility for our wellbeing we've got to live intentionally across all four of these domains.
But for many reasons (some of which are cultural) that’s not how we westerners tend to do it.
What follows in the coming pages is partly an explanation of how I came to coach this stuff and also an introduction to the philosophy and approach I bring to clients.
While I do coach ancestral nutrition, natural movement, mindfulness, motivation and even delve into behavioural therapy, I don’t pretend to have mastery in any of these fields.
Instead, I coach from personal experience and I've worked to get certified in the methods which have most accelerated my journey: I'm a level 2 MovNat instructor, a Heartmath mindfulness trainer, a Precision Nutrition coach and I’ve also studied Gabor Mate’s behavioural therapy model, Compassionate Inquiry.
My experience is there’s a ton of low hanging fruit that I can guide the curious and committed client towards – if I’m ever out of my league, I refer clients to the friends and experts who I've learned from and have helped guide my growth.
In a coaching session we might talk about the benefits of eating organ meat then work on unlocking your hips and hamstrings with some nutritious movement adaptations, all the while unpacking the triggering exchange you had with your girlfriend.
